A Very Toddler Christmas

Christmas Learning Activity As most of my great ideas come, I was walking through target checking out all of the holiday decorations. I always peruse the clearance section because it always has great little nik nacks and activities for children. I wasn’t really looking for anything in particular and stumbled across this wooden Christmas tree ($3) and pom poms ($l). The idea screamed at me! Check it out!

Materials: Christmas Tree Pom poms Paint Paintbrushes (optional) First, I covered the paper in brown packaging paper that came in one of our amazon packages, but you can also cut a garbage bag in half to lay out and avoid paint plasters. Second, I gather my materials, Christmas tree, paint, paint brushes, sponges, and whatever he may want to use to dip and paint. I mixed my paints and let him have at it. Once dried the Christmas craft was completed and took only a few minutes to make. 

Using this craft, I designed a fine motor activity that my son could play everyday following up to Christmas. I selected the pom poms that would best fit in the holes and proceeded to push one pom in each hole.  

Lawson had to use his thumb and index finger to pinch and pull the pom from the hole. Then he would place the pin back on the hole and use his index finger to push the Pom back into the hole. Lawson loved this activity and enjoys getting to pull and push the poms. But wait there’s more!!! This activity could be differentiated to fit any kids abilities including color coding, sorting, counting, and pattern recognition. This one craft can be used every December with Lawson through age 5 as he develops through each and every learning concept! This is seriously so easy to make and your little one will be learning immediately. Plus!! This is a cute decoration that you can set out anywhere when not being played with.
