Road to a Better  Me

1. Yoga- one doctor recommended trying yoga to help with my deep breathing and clearing my mind. Yoga works for a lot of people but after having a baby all day the last thing I wanted to do was lay on the floor for an hour.

2. Therapy- I first started seeing a talk therapist who basically just listens to you talk and offers coping techniques. Due to scheduling conflict I stopped seeing her. I am currently seeing a different type of therapist that I’ll discuss another day. However, I recommend therapy to everyone!!

3. Turning off my body- one technique the talk therapist suggested was turning my body off one body part at a time starting with my toes. It looks something like this “alright my toes are going to sleep now” and I would stop moving them. This was suppose to help me clear my mind and go to sleep. It made me feel absolutely crazy! I don’t recommend it but fee free to give it a try.

4. Deep breathing- deep breathing is a great technique to utilize when anxiety is heightening. However, I am really bad about letting things get beyond repair before using it.

5. Diffuser jewelry- I started using a diffuser bracelet with essential oil to help me remember to practice my deep breathing. Being that the essential oil was on my wrist it wasn’t a constant fragrance. So every time I smelled my “inner peace” oil I would stop and give myself a quick check to make sure I am deep breathing and not letting my anxiety control my situation. I only wear the bracelet when I leave the house in those group settings when my anxiety tends to be at its highest and it really helps me.

6. Essential oils- I have recently gotten into essential oils because at this point I will try anything for some relief from my anxiety. I use essential oils on my diffuser bracelet, in my wax warmer and in my bubble bath. I absolutely love eucalyptus and spearmint. But I use “inner peace” from vitality extracts on my diffuser bracelet.
